Listing & Advertising Policy

This translation is provided for reference only. In the event of any discrepancy, the Japanese version shall prevail.

tiệm note does not change its descriptions or the order of its listings in exchange for advertising fees. Whenever advertising is displayed, it is always clearly labeled “PR”. There is currently no advertising on the site.

Listing criteria

  • We list shops that carry distinctly Vietnamese goods, handicrafts and souvenirs and that our editorial team judges to be worth visiting.
  • As a rule, we do not list shops that sell only clothing. An exception is made where the shop’s design or displays offer a special experience.
  • Listing is free. We never charge shops a listing fee.
  • Shops whose operation can no longer be confirmed are marked “To be checked”. Shops that have closed or moved are marked “Closed / moved” and removed from listings, while their pages remain as notices.
  • Each shop page shows the date of the last check and how it was checked (visit by our editors / the shop’s official website or social media / checked by our editors based on public information).

Order of listings

Listings are sorted in the following order. Whether or not advertising fees are paid has no effect on any of these factors.

  1. Shops our editors visited and photographed
  2. Shops confirmed open
  3. Shops whose information was checked most recently

Within the same tier, operator-affiliated shops are not placed higher. Listings can also be sorted by shop name or by most recently updated.

Labeling of advertising (PR)

  • Advertising appears only in slots separate from the listings, such as “Shops in the spotlight”, and takes up no more than one third of any such slot.
  • Advertising is labeled “PR (advertisement)” and is distinguished from editors’ picks by color and wording.
  • We also do not publish advertising copy that is untrue or misleading.
  • Events and announcements are listed in order of date. Those that include advertising are likewise labeled “PR (advertisement)”.
  • When we feature advertising on social media, we also clearly label it “PR”.

When we receive products or invitations

If a shop provides products or an invitation in connection with our coverage, we state this on that shop’s page.

Operator-affiliated shop

Shops managed or invested in by the operator or its related parties are labeled “Operator-affiliated shop”. These shops are not included in editors’ picks and are not given higher priority in listings. Events and announcements from operator-affiliated shops are labeled “Operator-affiliated shop” and listed under the same criteria as other shops (in order of date).

For shop owners

  • Photo contributions, corrections and requests to remove a listing are accepted free of charge. Please contact hello@tiemnote.com.
  • Photos provided by shops are labeled “From the shop” and shown alongside photos taken by our editors and those submitted by visitors.
  • For advertising inquiries, please contact ads@tiemnote.com. Applying for advertising does not change our descriptions or editorial evaluations.
